Role Responsibility

The Gypsy Roma Traveller (GRT) Residents Service is a small team within KCC which provides accommodation designated for GRT communities across the County. We currently have seven residential sites providing approximately 130 pitches for families across Kent, and have a small team dedicated to providing an excellent service to our residents. We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an organised and highly motivated individual to join our Service, on a part time basis.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Compliance Officer, ideally with an understanding of the challenges faced by GRT Communities and with managing accommodation, to join our team to manage the compliance issues which arise on sites, and lead on taking appropriate, fair, and consistent enforcement actions to deal with these.  You will have excellent knowledge of court processes and you will be required to attend court hearings when necessary.

You will have a sound understanding of the full range of enforcement actions available within legislation, coupled with the ability to interpret complex policies and ensure compliance, whilst using your excellent communication skills to achieve understanding with residents and to develop working relationships with key partners. Excellent people skills and experience of working with a diverse range of people and challenging situations are critical in this role.

This is a very rewarding and interesting role, where you will be part of a dedicated team that is adopting a new operating model and approach to service delivery.

Please ensure your application includes detail of how you, your skills and experience meet the attached Person Specification. This post is a 12 month fixed term contract with the possibility of being a permanent role. Working days and hours to be discussed with successful candidate.

This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
