Commissioning and Commercial Assistant

Role Responsibility

We are currently looking to recruit Commissioning and Commercial Assistants to join a number of teams within the Strategic Commissioning Unit, including Children’s Commissioning, Adults Commissioning and the Commissioning Standards Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to support Kent County Council’s commissioning activity. The roles include both permanent and fixed term opportunities, and candidates seeking both full-time and part-time roles are encouraged to apply.

Successful candidates will need:

  • Strong organisational capabilities
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders inside and outside of the Council.
  • Ability to work well under pressure as these are fast-paced roles

Responsibilities will vary depending on the team you are placed with. Some of the roles will be responsible for professional delivery of commissioning activities within the commissioning cycle, monitoring of spending and ensuring activity provides value for money and meets the needs of the citizens in Kent.

Some of the roles will involve supporting the roll out of Commissioning policies and standards and, training and development opportunities across the Strategic Commissioning division.

You will ensure continuous improvement in processes, policies and practice and work closely with your colleagues and others in the organisation.

These posts are subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

These posts are considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Interviews will be held 27th, 28th and 29th July.  Interviews will take place virtually via Microsoft Teams and will include a short test. Other interview formats can be made available upon request.
