Role Responsibility

Kent County Council is looking to strengthen its team to support Policy and Commissioning activities relating to the implementation of the Domestic Abuse Act.  Initially required until end of March 2022 (with the potential to extend), successful candidates will work with internal and external stakeholders as well as Providers of Domestic Abuse services, to help shape the provision for victims and their families.

Domestic Abuse is a heinous crime, leaving victims and their families often misplaced and vulnerable. DA is under reported and, across the country support for victims can be inconsistent and patchy.  After years of campaigning, the Domestic Abuse Act passed in the House of Lords this April, making Local Authorities responsible for providing services to victims and their families within safe accommodation.  This ground-breaking legislation (and associated funding) means Local Authorities can move towards creating equity of service for victims as well a more robust and well understood offer for children who have witnessed domestic violence.
