Child Protection Conference Chair

Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Social Worker / Manager to join the Child Protection Chairs’ Service, we are looking for a self-motivated professional to join our supportive team. We are looking for a flexible, creative individual who is committed to improving the protection of children by developing outcome-focused multi agency child protection plans and who understands and embraces the Kent Practice Framework.

In order to apply for this post, you must have a recognised Social Work qualification, be Social Work England Registered and with extensive experience of working within Children’s Services, with previous Child Protection experience.

You will have proven skills in chairing complex multi-agency meetings and a knowledge of current children’s legislation and practice. You will participate in a range of quality assurance and practice improvement activities, driving up standards of social work and the impact of other agencies involved in child protection work. You will be skilled in translating complex information into a well formulated child protection plan, identifying the most relevant resource to meet children’s needs and able to convey those in both oral and written form.

You will remain objective whilst developing effective working relationships within Children’s Services and other professionals involved in delivering services to vulnerable children and their families. You will join a supportive and experienced team, have a full and planned induction and enjoy opportunities for joint working and professional development. We are committed to the provision of high-quality professional supervision to further develop you as a Conference Chair and you will be invited to complete the Kent Management Modules supporting your CPD.

The office base for this post is Brook House, Whitstable but the expectation is that the successful candidate will be available to travel to Chair Conferences across South and East Kent as well as Virtual Meetings.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification. 

Interviews will take place face to face, location to be confirmed, the week beginning 9th December 2024.
