Celebratory Officer

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Role Responsibility

The Kent Registration Service is looking for Celebratory Officers to register and conduct their civil ceremonies; these include marriages, civil partnerships, and renewal of vows. This is an opportunity to play a key part in a couple’s special day and is a wonderfully rewarding customer-facing role, giving you the opportunity to meet a wide range of people.

We have annualised hours contracts available across the county for 248 hours and 136 hours per annum.  The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments over the year regardless of the hours worked that month.

The greatest proportion of the work will take place during peak ceremony times which under normal circumstances will be from June to September inclusive. You will be required to work Fridays and/or Saturdays dependent on your contractual hours. During your training period you will need to be flexible to consolidate your learning as there may not be sufficient ceremonies in your own district.

Celebratory Officers are mainly allocated to ceremonies at licensed venues, which provides the opportunity to work at a wide range of Kent’s beautiful ceremony venues.  You may also occasionally be allocated to ceremonies at Register Offices where required.

Candidates must be available to attend the following:

- Assessment Days which will be held week commencing 31July 2023

- Interviews which will be held week commencing 7 August 2023

Training for successful candidates which will take place during 25th-29th September

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
