Celebratory Officer

The Kent Registration Service is looking for Celebratory Officers to register and conduct their civil ceremonies; these include marriages, civil partnerships and renewal of vows.

We have annualised hours contracts available across the county for 248 hours and 136 hours per annum.  The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments over the year regardless of the hours worked that month.

The greatest proportion of the work will take place during peak ceremony times which under normal circumstances will be from June to September inclusive. For which you will be required to work Fridays and/or Saturdays dependant on your contractual hours. Due to the impact of Covid-19 on ceremonies, this busy period may be extended beyond those months, Ceremonies also take place on other weekdays and Bank Holidays.

Whilst you will be allocated to a District base, the ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential. This role can require long periods of standing.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Candidates must be available to attend the following:

Assessment Days which will be held week commencing 14 February 2022

Interviews which will be held week commencing 28 February 2022

Training for successful candidates which will take place from April 2022 dates tbc.

Salary is £20,997 pro-rata (This equates to £1481 or £2706 p.a depending on the size of the contract taken)
