Apprenticeship role - Fixed Term for 15 months

An opportunity has arisen for a Care Leaver to undertake a full time Apprenticeship with the 18+ Leaving Care Service within Integrated Children’s Services.

This is a great opportunity to gain a level 2 qualification in ‘Customer Service Practitioner’ whilst working as an Apprentice in a large, diverse, rapidly changing organisation.

The 18+ Leaving Care Service has responsibility for Care Leavers aged 18-25yrs, supporting them with their: education, training, employment; accessing accommodation, having financial stability, and emotional well-being as they transition into adulthood.

You would be supporting the continued development of the 18+ Leaving Care Service as it strives to improve the outcomes for Care Leavers in all aspects of their life. The post would work in collaboration with staff members within the service and external to develop initiatives focusing on the development of our accommodation support, education, training and employment, Social Media, and the voice of the care leaver.

This role requires an organised and caring individual with good communication skills, who enjoys interacting with young people. The post would work from the 18+ Leaving Care offices based in West Malling and Whitfield, Dover.

For Kent Care Leavers currently open to the 18+ Care Leaver Service, your Personal Adviser can carry out a needs assessment with you to see if there is additional support the service can offer you during your apprenticeship, e.g. travel costs.

If you’re under 25 when you start your apprenticeship and have previously been in local authority care, you may be eligible for a bursary payment.  Ask your training provider for more information about what you’ll get, if you’re eligible and how to apply.

The salary will be £159.10 per week. Once you are aged 19yrs and over, and have completed the first year, this will increase to the national minimum wage linked to your age for the remainder of your apprenticeship. 

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
