Calibration Section Manager
Role Responsibility
Kent Scientific Services is Kent County Council’s in-house Public Analyst, Toxicology and Metrology Calibration laboratory.
Our Calibration Section undertakes UKAS accredited testing of weights, weighing machines and thermometers for a wide range of clients, along with testing of legal metrology standards of weight and measure for Local Authority Trading Standards Services across the South East.
Following the retirement of the previous highly respected post-holder, we have a very exciting opportunity for a manager to join us to manage this section and continue to drive it forwards both in terms of customer care and maximising income generation. The successful candidate will be the Technical Manager for our UKAS accreditation and will have a “hands on” as well as leadership role.
Weighing and measurement are critical corner stones of commerce dating back to the Magna Carter and we are keen to welcome to our team the right person who will enthusiastically bring their knowledge, skills and drive to this important role.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
