Business and Performance Officer

Role Responsibility

A unique opportunity has arisen in the Highways and Transportation (H&T) department for a Business & Performance Officer to join one of the largest Local Authorities in England, Kent County Council. Highways and Transportation is one of the main services that fall under Growth, Environment and Transport (GET)

H&T look after 5,400 miles of road, receive over 200,000 contacts from customers each year, have over 500 staff and manage an annual budget of over £230 million. The opportunities to help managers improve how they work, thus improving the outcomes and experience for residents and our local communities, is both immense and exciting.

We are looking for someone to join Highways and Transportation (H&T) to help drive the growth of our business performance and use of data to understand and improve service delivery.

Working as a key member of the Business Innovations and Technology team your role will be to assist in the management of business improvements, business processes, project support and business performance analytics across H&T, GET, KCC and third-party suppliers. Currently, core systems used by H&T include Brightly/Confirm, Oracle Business Intelligence and Microsoft PowerBI. The role is critical in identifying, collating, analysing and providing data and business process improvements to managers in a way they can understand and use to improve service delivery. 

The post holder will be accustomed to working in fast-paced environments, able to manage competing projects to tight deadlines, leading a wide range of meetings and stakeholder engagement events, advising, and influencing stakeholders at all levels both verbally and in writing to improve the business systems across H&T.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
