Business and Democratic Processes Senior Officer

Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has opened up to join the Children’s, Young People and Education  (CYPE) Corporate Director’s Office as the Business and Democratic Processes Senior Officer.

You will manage, on behalf of the CYPE Directorate, the Council’s Democratic Process in relation to Cabinet Committee, Corporate Board, Key Decisions, Forward Plan entries and the CYPE Informal Monitoring Group(s). You will provide a comprehensive, co-ordinated and efficient business support service to ensure that key business needs are met as effectively as possible for the Directorate including Business Continuity, New Ways of Working, Government Consultations, Climate Change, authority matrix and school term dates.

We are looking for someone who can provide expert knowledge to the Senior Managers and Directors in CYPE of the Council’s Democratic Process. You will manage and co-ordinate comprehensive and efficient processes and procedures across CYPE to be used in developing and deploying strategies eg; Business Continuity Management, Emergency Planning and resilience.

You will be the lead for CYPE on all Democratic Processes, you will use your professional expertise and experience to lead in this area ensuring that all reports and decisions meet the required outcomes in terms of content and comply with Council Standing Orders, the Constitution and Member / Officer Protocol, working closely with the Councils Legal and Democratic Services Team and Cabinet Member staff officers.

The post holder will be expected to have previous experience and understanding of KCC’s decision making process and the Constitution, along with local government experience.

This role will involve hybrid working (Sessions House Maidstone and home working).
