An opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice to join the Safeguarding, Professional Standards & Quality Assurance Unit within the Children, Young People and Education Directorate

This is a great opportunity to gain a Level 3 Apprenticeship qualification in Business Administration whilst working for a large, diverse, rapidly changing organisation.

The Safeguarding, Professional Standards and Quality Assurance Unit comprises of 4 services within the unit, they are: The Practice Development Services, Local Authority Designated Officer Service, Child Protection Chair service and Independent Reviewing Officer Service.  The unit is county wide and provides services across the twelve districts in Kent County Council (KCC), it consists of just under 100 staff, the majority of which are experienced Social Workers with Team Management experience.  The unit supports monitoring and review of safeguarding decision making and service delivery for around 11,000 children receiving services from KCC.  This is whilst supporting the practice and development of up to 2000 staff within KCC’s Children, Young People and Education directorate.


The role will encompass diary management, forward planning of meetings, the management of all associated administration and implementation of efficient processes and procedures to improve the level of service provided to the Assistant Director and other stakeholders. You will set up meetings and produce/collate relevant information and documentation to support the planning of service delivery.  You will be responsible for tracking, monitoring, and following up on information enquiries to meet timescales and enable a reliable and high-quality service.  You will lead on accurately updating, modifying, and retrieving data from systems, professionals, and organisations.

The role is based at Sessions House but currently working from home

Salary starts at £173.91 per week, with the opportunity to increase based on performance.
