Business Support Officer (AD)

Role Responsibility

An opportunity has arisen for a Business Support Officer (Grade KR6) within the Assistant Directors office in Integrated Children’s Services - Safeguarding, Quality Assurance & Practice Standards Unit.  This is a permanent full-time position.  We can offer opportunities for personal training and development within the service, as well as equipment to enable you to work flexibly from both home and office.

We are looking for someone with administrative experience who is confident dealing with a variety of responsibilities and using a range of IT packages. You will have good working Knowledge of MS applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Streams, MS Teams and Sway.  You will demonstrate a confident telephone manner and possess a high standard of spoken and written English.

Working within a confidential environment,  you will have the ability to take comprehensive minutes and exacting records for statutory work. You will use your initiative to prioritise your workload to meet deadlines in a highly demanding environment.  You will need to have the confidence and ability to deal with a variety of multi-disciplinary professionals and a range of matters and the ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.

The role is varied and interesting, working closely with the Senior Business Support Office to provide excellent support for the Assistant Director and senior managers within the unit. 

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

What is the safeguarding, quality assurance and professional standards unit?

The core purpose of the unit is to provide a quality assurance service and ensure the provision of services for vulnerable children and young people is compliant with national statutory requirements and performance standards. The unit seeks to drive the practice framework and agenda for delivering best practice to children and families in Kent and ensure safeguarding practice across the directorate is effective and supports improved children’s workforce practice.
