Business Support Lead - West Kent Children in Care
Role Responsibility
KSD | Up to 8 months, Fixed Term Contract
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Business Support Lead to join the West Kent Children in Care Team on a fixed-term contract for up to 8 months.
We are looking for someone who is organised, approachable and confident in supporting and leading others. This would be a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their leadership skills, gain experience of managing a Business Support team and broaden their knowledge of Children’s Services.
As Business Support Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day business support provision to the service, ensuring practitioners and managers receive an effective and responsive service. You will supervise Business Support Officers, support their development and training, monitor the quality and timeliness of work and ensure appropriate cover arrangements are in place.
The role also includes supporting recruitment and induction, monitoring performance and data quality, maintaining effective administrative and financial processes, supporting meetings and continually looking for opportunities to improve the way the team works.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has strong organisational skills and can confidently manage changing priorities and deadlines.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can work effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Can lead, support and motivate a team of Business Support staff.
- Is proactive and confident in identifying issues and finding practical solutions.
- Has experience of effective administrative and financial processes.
- Is comfortable monitoring workloads, timescales and the quality of work.
- Has a good understanding of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
You do not necessarily need to have previous experience as a Business Support Lead. If you are ready to take the next step and can demonstrate the skills, experience and enthusiasm needed to lead and support a team effectively, we would really like to hear from you.
This is a good opportunity to gain further management experience within West Kent Children’s Services, while working closely with the wider Business Support and Children in Care teams.
When completing your application, please ensure you complete the “How you meet the requirements of the role” section fully, setting out your reasons for applying and demonstrating the skills, knowledge and experience you would bring to the Business Support Lead role.
The information provided within your “How you meet the requirements of the role” section will form part of the selection process and will be used to help determine applicants invited to interview.
You may wish to include examples that demonstrate:
- your experience of supporting others;
- how you organise and prioritise work when managing competing demands;
- your ability to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships;
- occasions where you have identified and resolved problems or improved ways of working; and
- the skills and experience you would bring to the Children in Care Business Support team.
