Budget Support Accountant

Role Responsibility

Community Learning and Skills are seeking to recruit a Budget Support Accountant to join our fast-paced and exciting organisation. Community Learning and Skills is an organisation within Kent County Council that delivers a broad range of adult education opportunities across the county. It is one of the largest local authority training providers in the country and has a strong reputation for high quality education.

You will be working closely with the Head of Finance and Funding and will play an integral part in the finance function including the delivery of the management accounts for the service.

The role is extremely varied covering many different aspects of finance and will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to really add value beyond finance and to feel part of something worthwhile and progressive.

What we need from you:

  • You will be proactive and competent, able to deliver on tasks such as monthly budget monitoring, annual year-end closedown, annual budget planning, variance analysis, service costings, and income monitoring, reconciliation, and analysis.
  • You will be organised and efficient, adhering to deadlines and submitting reports in good time.
  • You will have the ability to translate complicated financial data into advice to senior managers.
  • You will be strategic and open-minded in your thinking for financial forecasting and annual budgeting preparations.
  • You will have a collaborative working style and will be flexible with your approach to work.

At present, our budget and finance teams are working from home but are normally based at the Sittingbourne Adult Education site.

Contract type: Full time 37 hours per week, permanent

Salary: £34,351 rising to £40,405 through annual pay progression.
