Assistant Ranger
Role Responsibility
This is a Permanent, Part-Time position (3 days a week) new role within the East Kent Ranger Team, based at the award winning Brockhill Country Park.
This role will cover a number of sites across East Kent. The Assistant Ranger will help the Head Ranger with practical conservation and estate work including fencing, woodland, grassland, stream and lake management. You should hold certificates in competency or be willing to train in brushcutter, trailer and other practical skills as required.
You should demonstrate experience in countryside management as a volunteer or paid worker. Have a good understanding of landscape and nature conservation and the natural world, public access and interpretation.
You will be reliable and possess good interpersonal skills and have a positive attitude towards customer care. A practical aptitude and fitness appropriate to the physical aspect of the role is essential. An ability to travel between sites is required.
This is a pensionable post, employee pays 5.8% and employer pays 21%.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
