Assistant Educational Psychologist

Role Responsibility

Kent Educational Psychology Service (KEPS) is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for aspiring Educational Psychologists to join our successful Assistant EP programme. As an Assistant Educational Psychologist, you will support the service in delivering high quality, evidence based psychological practice. You will contribute to a wide range of activities, including: 

  • Supporting community and preventative work across schools and early years settings.
  • Applying psychological principles to promote inclusion, participation and wellbeing.
  • Working alongside schools, settings,families and other professionals to improve outcomes for children and young people.
  • Support the statutory assessment of children and young people.

We are seeking highly motivated, passionate and flexible individuals who are committed to the application of psychology in education. You will need to demonstrate KCC’s values, including a commitment to supporting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. You will need a good honours degree in psychology along with current knowledge of psychological theory and practice including up to date understanding of child development and experience of how psychology can be applied within educational or community settings. In addition, you will need to have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills along with knowledge of the context in which psychological services, schools and settings work. This is a fixed term contract with the expectation that the successful applicant will apply to gain a place on the Educational Psychology Doctorate course either after the first or second year of employment.

This role is subject to holding a full UK Driving Licence.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
