Assistant Director, SEND

Role Responsibility

Kent is an ambitious and highly influential county and a key part of the UK economy.  With the largest population of the English counties, over 450,000 of the 1.5 million people living in Kent are under 25.

In line with our commitments to give Kent’s children the best start in life; ensure that families get the right help and support when they need it; and to ensure every young person in Kent gets the education, skills, and experiences they need for a successful future, we are looking for an Assistant Director of SEND to join our leadership team.

The role

You will provide leadership to a large and busy service, providing expert knowledge in the provision of inclusive education and the assessment of care to children with special educational needs and disabilities. Working strategically across a complex system of stakeholders, you will bring together and unite partners across education, health, and the voluntary sector to create collaborative and seamless services across our county.

You will help drive the raising of standards, the improvement of outcomes and the consistency in which we assess and meet the needs of our communities. You will ensure Children, young people and their families are at the centre of what we do.

About you

This is a big job that requires ambition, energy, drive, and innovation. We are looking for a proven leader that understands how to work with others to achieve the best outcomes. You will have a demonstrable track record of raising standards in a SEND setting and the ability to communicate effectively, and clearly, with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Not wanting to stand still, you will have the drive and ambition to ‘do things differently’, we are looking for a leader that is excited by challenge and someone that embraces opportunity.
