Apprentice Children's Residential Worker

Our service provides short breaks for children with learning disabilities and complex medical health needs from the age of five until their eighteenth birthday.   

We are seeking 30 hours per week apprentice Children’s Residential Worker to join our team to provide a nurturing and safe environment which will promote the emotional and physical well-being of children. Individuals should be flexible in their approach, be able to work collaboratively and share our commitment to improving outcomes for children.

You will work alongside a small team to ensure the smooth running of the shift where children are provided with stimulating and meaningful learning experiences and activities. With on shift guidance and support, you will help to supervise and respond to each child to ensure their safety whilst providing them with the comfort, stimulation, and reassurance to make each visit an enjoyable stay.

 The role will involve working on a fixed rota pattern, that will include some evenings, alternate weekends, and some bank holidays. This is a 2-year programme. At the end of you may have the opportunity to take on a Children residential worker post within one of the short break units

You will undertake an apprenticeship of 30 hours per week, 24 of which will be on a rota and the rest will be to complete your Diploma 4 in Children young people and families and practitioner.

You will have experience of supporting children with learning disabilities and possess knowledge of safeguarding and child protection. You must be able to take personal and professional responsibility for your actions and performance. In return, you will be provided with an ongoing programme of specialist training and be provided with regular supervision to enable you to confidently progress in your career.

Interviews will be conducted under the ‘Choosing with Care’ assessment process, and will take place at Fairlawn Short Break Unit, Kingsnorth Road, Ashford, Kent TN23 6LY. We will be conducting interviews over the following two days,

  • Tuesday 18th October 2022 from 10:00am to 15:00pm
  • Wednesday 19th October 2022 from 10:00am to 15:00pm
