Allocations and Project Support Officer

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Role Responsibility

The Gypsy Roma Traveller (GRT) Residents Service is a small team within KCC which provides accommodation designated for GRT’s across the County. We currently have 7 residential sites providing approximately 130 pitches for families across Kent, and have a small team dedicated to providing an excellent service to our residents.

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual, to join our dedicated team in our new role of Allocations and Project Support Officer. This role is pivotal to ensuring that our limited number of available pitches are allocated to those most in need.

You will be responsible for implementing the Pitch Allocations Policy and ensuring that every application for a pitch received is processed in accordance with this policy. You will be responsible for applying the process in a transparent, consistent and fair manner every time.  You will need to be able to demonstrate that you can adhere to a process and identify inconsistencies and anomalies that need further investigating and be proactive in resolving these queries.

You will be responsible for meeting new residents on site and introducing them to the site, local area and facilities. As such, there will be times that you are required to travel across a wide geographical area, in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day. You should note that public transport is not a viable option as some rural areas of Kent often have no or limited public transport.

You will also be responsible for coordinating and completing an annual census of residents on our sites, as well as providing appropriate project support to the Head of Service on development projects and initiatives. You will need to demonstrate that you can establish and develop excellent working relationships with a number of stakeholders, as well as demonstrate excellent administration skills and experience of working on projects.  Experience of working with a diverse range of people and challenging situations are critical in this role.

This role is a very rewarding and interesting role, where you will be part of a dedicated team that is adopting a new operating model and approach to service delivery and combines office-based working with on-site visits.

Please ensure your application includes detail of how you, your skills and experience meet the attached Person Specification.
