Administration Officer - Short Term Pathways

An opportunity has arisen to recruit an Administration Officer for the Short Term Pathways Team which covers West and North Kent hospitals. You will provide administrative support to the Short Term Pathways Team and assist in the smooth running of the service.

The Short Term Pathways team support the facilitation of adult discharges from integrated care centres, acute and community hospitals. You need to be flexible in your approach, committed to working in an integrated team and ready to embrace new ways of working, to help further shape our services

The Administration Officer’s within the Short Term Pathways make up an integral part of the Social Care teams within the hospitals in Kent. Our Administration Officer’s are often the first point of contact for professionals, partnership agencies and members of the public and deal with a variety of enquiries of sensitive nature.

Administration Officer’s provide a comprehensive support service to a team of Registered and unregistered practitioners and the Management Team undertaking a wide range of administration tasks. We are looking for someone who possesses excellent IT and problem solving skills and has a confident telephone manner. You will be required to deal with highly sensitive and confidential information, take formal minutes at meetings and be able to resolve complex queries in a timely way. This is a challenging, varied and exciting role that requires you to multi task whilst working under pressure.

We are looking for someone who possesses excellent literacy, numeracy and computer skills and who can use a range of IT systems to ensure a high level of accuracy with data collation and inputting. You will also need good organisational skills to be able to prioritise workloads and work to deadlines. You will need to be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team, as well as professionally communicating with our clients, their representatives and other professionals by phone and e-mail.

The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible
manner at various times of the day is essential. You should note that public
transport is rarely a viable option as some rural areas of Kent often have limited
public transport. Whilst the post is primarily working from home, there is a requirement to travel and possibility to work at KCC and NHS office site and bases. 

This position will be covering all four hospital sites:

Maidstone Hospital - ME16 9QQ
Tunbridge Wells Hospital - TN2 4QJ
Darent Valley Hospital - DA2 8DA
Medway Hospital - ME7 5NY

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

We are increasingly accessible to the public outside of traditional office hours, as we
move towards an 8 am to 8 pm, 7 days a week service to ensure service needs
are met. This post is 37 hours, worked Monday – Friday 08.30-17.00 and weekends on a rota basis.
