Role Responsibility

Do you want to make a difference to how we can transform the way people travel, the environment we live in and have a positive influence on individuals health and wellbeing? If so please read on and get in touch!

A unique opportunity has arisen for an Active Travel Project Officer to work with the Active Travel Interventions Team in the Road Safety and Active Travel Group.

This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual that has the knowledge, understanding and passion to make active travel (walking, wheeling and cycling) more accessible for all.

Collaborating with specialists across our business including the wider Active Travel Teams, Public Rights of Way, and other KCC internal teams you will champion the development, promotion and co-ordination of active travel strategies and cycling infrastructure in Kent.  You will build up a rapport with key stakeholders to expand, link up and promote improved safety standards across the county’s active travel network. You will be involved with engagement and promotion of the Active Travel England funded schemes.

Key outcomes are to increase the frequency and number of people actively travelling, improve road safety, support sustainable development, tackle congestion and pollution and contribute to wider active travel and public health objectives.

You must be well organised, numerate, attentive to detail and have excellent IT skills as well as having excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You need to be flexible, adaptable, enjoy being part of a team, be able to manage competing demands by careful prioritisation, switch between tasks and be confident in building strong client relationships. You also need to be able to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision.

In return we offer a competitive salary, flexible working practices, generous annual leave allowance, local government pension scheme, comprehensive professional learning and development and an opportunity to work in a growing sector with a team focussed on delivering high quality Active Travel interventions.

The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential.
