Accountant Level 2 - Revenue Finance
Role Responsibility
We have a permanent, full-time vacancy (37 hours a week) for a KR10 Accountant Level 2 (Revenue Finance, Adults and Public Health) within Kent County Council’s (KCC’s) Finance division. The primary location for this post is Sessions House, although the post currently involves working from home, with some office working as required at Maidstone.
The main duties and responsibilities of this role include providing financial advice, challenge and direction to Heads of Service and/or Budget Managers to enable them to produce a regular, accurate, realistic revenue budget monitoring forecast. As such, you will be required to meet with Budget Managers throughout the year, in accordance with the published timetable and year-end processes. The role is varied and includes completion of various revenue budget related government returns, as well as responding to Freedom of Information (FOI) and media requests as directed. You will be Educated to NVQ Level 4 (e.g. AAT) or equivalent, and/or with proven ability to do the job. You will be expected to have experience of working in a service led Finance environment, and experience of working effectively with Senior Officers, Heads of Service and Budget Managers. It is important that you have accountancy experience of meeting fixed, non-negotiable deadlines whilst still maintaining high quality standards. Due to the need to engage with others as part of this role, you must have high level interpersonal skills and communication skills, both orally and in writing.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
