Accommodation Team Manager - 18plus Care Leavers Service

Do you want to help young, care experienced adults to feel safe, secure and maintain their homes and learn valuable life skills? An exciting opportunity has been created for the right person to join Kent County Council’s 18Plus care leavers service.

We are looking to recruit a Team Manager to lead our new accommodation service that will be created as a result of the TUPE transfer of the Supported Lodgings team in to KCC in February 2021. We need a dynamic, imaginative, solution focused manager to lead and develop our new 18plus Accommodation Service

This will be an integrated Accommodation Service that will manage a range of accommodation services. The role will include leading and developing our new supported lodgings service, supervising, and supporting a team of accommodation support officers who manage a case load of host providers in providing high quality homes for care leavers in transition to adult independence.

The 18plus Accommodation Team Manager is a county wide post and the service will be run in close collaboration with Kent’s Fostering Service, Children in Care services and the Total Placement service. The supported lodgings service is designed to give young people the best support they need within a family environment whilst learning and developing the practical and emotional skills they need to move on into adult independent living.

You will also be expected to supervise the Specialist housings PAs ( Personal Advisors) who are part of a DFE funded initiative to prevent rough sleeping, by helping young people identify suitable move on accommodation (Homes)  through the production of personal housing plans, they liaison with private landlords to source suitable accommodation, this is a short term funded project. You will have responsibility for assisting in working in collaboration with other Team Managers and Personal Advisors across the service to promote placement stability across a range of placement types and organisations, so that young people are appropriately supported in those placements to help us reduce our reliance on high cost placements.

You will need to be able to work across several different agencies developing strong relationships with housing agencies including Local Housing authorities and actively promote the principles of corporate parenting within these agencies.

The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
